We have nothing in us that would move God to adopt us, yet He does so to the praise of His Glorious Grace.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who
has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the
heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation
of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In
love 5 he predestined us[a] for adoption to himself as sons through
Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise
of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the
Beloved.
Ephesians 1:3-6
1. Adoption is seriously planned. (Ephesians 1:4-5)
2. Adoption is costly. (Ephesians 1:4-5,7)
3. Adoption rescues from terrible situations (Ephesians 2:1-4)
4. Adoption is passive for the adoptee. (Ephesians 1:3-6)
5. Adoption is preceded by a legal change. (Ephesians 1:4-5)
6. Adoption makes us an heir. (Ephesians 1:11, Galatians 4:4-7)
