City Church Boise Sermons

Feb 2, 2020

Through the incarnation of the Son of God, Immanuel: God came near to sinners like us to befriend and thereby save us from sin.

He is explicitly stating that He is the narrow gate. He, Jesus, is THE way, the only way to true life.

Matthew 7:12

“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

Crossroads

Is that me, Lord?

Am I following the way of Jesus?

  • Are you entering the narrow way?
  • Are you following Jesus?
  • Are you taking his word, promises and warnings, with the seriousness they deserve?
  • Are you taking Jesus’ words and examining your life with them? or are you give mere mental assent to the things that he is teaching?

The Gospel Tells Us

“You are dearly loved, not because you are lovely, but because I have loved you. You are not a child of God because you earned it or deserve it but because of God’s kindness and grace.”

Jesus Christ came to rescue us and redeem us - through his life giving sacrifice on the cross - to save us from what we are, to make us into what we could never be on our own, to make us into something new, something beautiful, something glorious. People not of this world, people of His eternal Kingdom.
